By the time I’m done writing this or getting it published, a new day has come. It’s 21 January 2025; truthfully, nothing is significant about it.
Tapi kalau tengok kepada baki counting days yang ada, masih tak ada apa-apa yang menarik sangat pun. Oklah, let’s be real. Berbaki empat hari saja lagi sebelum aku akan menamatkan kerjaya aku sebagai Chief Creative Officer dekat INVOKE secara rasminya. Tak rasminya, hari terakhir 2024 yang lepas adalah hari terakhir aku masuk ke office.
It’s been a wild ride really.
So here’s a short summary of it.
In 2013, I decided to make a pivot. Dari aku mulakan karier aku dalam dunia creative & design pada tahun 2010 sehinggalah ke penghujung 2013, aku dah libatkan diri aku dalam banyak projek. Dari teater muzikal (Cuci The Musical, Lat Kg Boy & Supermokh Muzikal) sehinggalah ke projek-projek seperti Konsert Jackson 5 di Malaysia, projek Jambatan Kedua Pulau Pinang, TV commercial, muzik video, production TV untuk RTM, TV al-Hijrah dan sebagainya.
Aku masuk dunia politik.
Tiga tahun pertama, tak banyak sangat bisingnya. Banyak diam. Diam untuk akulah walaupun hakikatnya dunia politik waktu 2013-2016 ni memang banyak bisingnya. Aku kerja belakang tabir. Tapi agak banyak jugak keterlibatan hasil kerja aku yang keluar.
2016, bos aku dalam dunia politik memulakan sebuah organisasi yang sekarang ramai orang kenal sebagai startup big data, INVOKE. I was made the Chief Creative Officer and for the last eight years, that’s where I have been. As people usually says it best, nothing good last forever.
Sejujurnya, masa aku dijadikan CCO dulu, I don’t think I was the right man for the job. I was merely at the right place, the right time. There was no other creative people were in the circle then. When I said I’m not the right man for the job, what I meant was that, I do not have the right experience or capabilities. For the past six years prior to that moment, I have always a lone ranger. Working in a team was not the best description to used, what more managing a team.
But, just do it first and figure things out later. And so I did.
There’s thousands of stories to tell and if I were to tell them here, it will a super long first. A book would be a better option if I were to write all of them. That short of a decade long career were filled with ups and downs. Nothing about the job was ever fancy though the title sounded like one. Being a CCO is about having the biggest of responsibilities and what more, the responsibilities that one holds is not about making yourself look good but it was about making the life of your underlings becomes better. It’s easy to write such things though I know and acknowledge that I may not have done a great job at it. Probably the biggest reason why I’m ending my career there is simply just that.
Tapi penghujung sesuatu cerita kadang-kadang tak melambangkan the whole story behind it. Well, there are no ‘stories’ of teas if that was what you were thinking. It’s just that, at some point, we (me and my STLs) realized that there were moments where we thought to ourselves, we may just did something right. The thing is that, what seems right to you may not seems right to others.
